Iris decora is a PERENNIAL growing to 0.3 m (1ft). It is in flower in July. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by Insects. The plant is self-fertile. Suitable for: light (sandy) and medium (loamy) soils. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It cannot grow in the shade. It prefers dry or moist soil.

Diuretic Purgative The root is aperient, deobstruent, diuretic and purgative[61, 243]. It is useful in the treatment of bilious obstructions and is also applied externally to small sores and pimples[243].
