Aconitum orientale is a PERENNIAL growing to 1.5 m (5ft) by 0.3 m (1ftĀ in). See above for USDA hardiness. It is hardy to UK zone 6. It is in flower from July to August. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by Bees. Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and can grow in heavy clay soil. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.

Anodyne Diaphoretic Diuretic The dried root is anodyne, diaphoretic and diuretic[4]. It should be harvested in the autumn as soon as the plant dies down[4]. This is a very poisonous plant and should only be used with extreme caution and under the supervision of a qualified practitioner.
