Physical Characteristics

Amelanchier pallida is a deciduous Shrub growing to 4 m (13ft 1in). It is not frost tender. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by Bees. The plant is self-fertile. Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and can grow in heavy clay soil. Suitable pH: mildly acid and neutral soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.

Medicinal Uses

Ophthalmic Women's complaints An infusion of the inner bark is used to treat snow-blindness[172]. A decoction of the boiled roots has been used to check too frequent menstruation[257].
