Physical Characteristics

Fragaria daltoniana is a PERENNIAL growing to 0.3 m (1ft). It is not frost tender. It is in flower from May to June, and the seeds ripen from June to July. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by Insects. Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.

Edible Uses

Edible Parts: Fruit Edible Uses: Fruit - raw[105, 272]. Virtually flavourless[1, 177]. The globose fruit can be up to 2.5cm x 1.5cm[200].

Medicinal Uses

Febrifuge The juice of the rot is used in the treatment of fevers[272].
