Paederia scandens is a deciduous Climber growing to 5.5 m (18ft 1in) at a fast rate. It is in flower from July to August. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs). Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It cannot grow in the shade. It prefers moist soil.

They are used to increase infertility and treat paralysis[218]. A decoction of the whole plant is used in the treatment of abdominal pain, abscesses, arthritis, overeating etc[147, 218].
