Physical Characteristics
Lancea tibetica is a PERENNIAL growing to 0.1 m (0ft 4in). It is in flower from May to July, and the seeds ripen from July to September. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs). Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.
Distribution
E. Asia - Himalayas from India, Bhutan and Sikkim to China and Mongolia.

Medicinal Uses
The flowers, leaves and fruit are used in Tibetan medicine, they are said to have a sweet and bitter taste with a cooling potency[241]. They are used in the treatment of pulmonary disorders[241]. The fruit is used to treat heart disorders and retention of the menses, whilst the leaves are used for healing wounds[241].
