Patrinia villosa is a PERENNIAL growing to 1 m (3ft 3in). It is in flower in August. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs). Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.

Antibacterial Antiinflammatory Hepatic The whole plant is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and hepatic. It is used in the treatment of carbuncles, acute appendicitis, intestinal abscess, postpartum pain, dysmenorrhoea and endometriosis[176]. It stimulates the circulation, treats abscesses, promotes regeneration of liver cells[176]. Large doses can cause a decrease of white blood cells, nausea and dizziness[176].
