Saussurea roylei is a PERENNIAL growing to 0.4 m (1ft 6in). The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by Insects. Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.

Antidandruff Antiinflammatory Emollient Haemostatic Vasoconstrictor The entire plant is used in Tibetan medicine, it is said to have a bitter taste and a cooling potency[241]. Antidote, anti-inflammatory, emollient, haemostatic and vasoconstrictor, it is used in the treatment of wounds, excessive bleeding and meat poisoning[241]. A paste of the plant is used as a poultice to relieve aching joints[272].
