Ribes burejense is a deciduous Shrub growing to 1 m (3ft 3in). See above for USDA hardiness. It is hardy to UK zone 5. It is in flower in April, and the seeds ripen from July to October. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by Insects. Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.

Edible Parts: Fruit Edible Uses: Fruit - raw or cooked[105]. Acid but palatable, it is a gooseberry and can hang on the bush until November if the birds leave it alone[K]. At this time of year it develops a rather nice blackcurrant flavour[K]. The fruit is about 10mm in diameter[200].
