Clematis tibetana is a deciduous Climber growing to 4 m (13ft 1in). See above for USDA hardiness. It is hardy to UK zone 6. It is in flower from August to September. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by Bees, flies. Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.

Antipruritic Antitumor The stem and flowers are used in Tibetan medicine, they are considered to have and acrid and sweet taste with a heating potency[241]. They promote stomach heat and destroy 'cold tumours'[241]. They are used in the treatment of skin irritations and itches, and tumours[241].
Known Hazards
Although no reports of toxicity have been seen for this species, some if not all members of this genus are mildly poisonous. The toxic principle is dissipated by heat or by drying[65].
